Balancing Equations, Trick question?
« on: November 20, 2007, 05:10:14 PM »
For some reason I think I was given a trick question.  I'm told I need to balance this equation:

Mg(s)  + Pb(NO3)2(aq) > Pb(s)  +  Mg(NO3)2(aq)

However when I look at this I see:

Left side:

Mg = 1
Pb = 1
NO3 = 2

Right side:

Mg = 1
Pb = 1
NO3 = 2

I'm not fully sure if this is a trick question or not, since I'm still learning to balance equations I'm thinking I must of missed something.  I wouldn't see the point in putting that equation to balance if it's already balance in a question.

It is already balanced - but it was up to you to check it. You did it correctly - the better for you :)

Thanks for the response!  I guess I should expect more questions like this in my work.   :)
