Presidential Election 2008
« on: December 10, 2007, 09:36:49 PM »
For the Americans, mostly.  I was wondering what candidates you were all planning on voting for come election day next year (Or at east which of the ones you support at the moment... We're not done with the primaries, yet  :P)

SADLY, I will not turn 18 until the April after, so I can't vote, but overall I have to say my favourite candidate would be Ron Paul.

I have to say, overall, they are all idiots and I do not want to vote for any of them!

At the moment, I'm leaning heavily towards Obama.

Is Obama a misnomer for Osama?

No.
He is a senator from Illinois, associated with the Democratic party.

If Hillary wins I am moving to Canada.

I can start saying ",eh" a lot and pronounce the letter "Z" as "zed".

But I concur with Sinatra's conclusion.

Hmm.... Well Ron Paul is failing miserably (Not that we couldn't see that happen early on), and apparently he's a creationist, anyway  :P

I think I'm going to root for Obama of the people who are left...  He definitely HAS to beat Hillary.

McCain I find slightly more dubious...  But he would probably be somewhat OK.

I'm predicting the democratic nominee will win.

Actually, I'm just going off the criteria Professor *Forgot His Name* developed for figuring who will win the election. It works by answering certain questions, and depending on how the answers go you can figure out which party will win. If I manage to find it I'll post it, but it will have to be another night.

Everybody says how everybody hates the US. But there has consistently been steady increasing number of legal and illegal immigrants. People are still immigrating to the US in huge numbers. So clearly everybody does not hate the US.

People hate Bush and his policies and his war, not America I suspect.

Obviously a lot of people do hate America, but that depends on what their idea of "America" is.

If you're a Mexican just barely over the boarder who realizes that you can get more money and safety by sneaking in, you'll have at least a somewhat good idea of America.

If you live in the Middle East and the only "America" you've seen are the soldiers patrolling the streets that your Islamic Extremist peers tell you are infidels, you're going to dislike America.

Of course there are also those who say "I hate America" really meaning "I hate Bush" or "I hate America's current foreign policies" etc.  I don't particularly like or dislike "America" but regardless of my feelings toward it I guess I'll have to deal  ::)
