Results of Different Chemical Reactions?
« on: February 06, 2008, 08:05:19 PM »
just wondering what would happen if...

1. hydrochloric acid was placed in a test tube and was reacted w/ zinc, then a flaming splint was brought to the test tube and the test tube was filled with de-ionized water and the liquid was poured off into the sink

2. silver nitrate solution was placed into a test tube and reacted with copper

what would the changes in solution look like?

1. Try to write out rxn eqn.
2. This is a single replacement rxn.  The solution will develop blue tinge.

The solution will develop blue tinge.

That takes time, changes on the copper surface are immediate.
