When copper wire is placed into a silver nitrate solution, silver crystals and copper (II) nitrate solution is formed. Write the balanced chemical equation for the reaction. If 20.0 grams of copper is used determine the theoretical yield of silver. If 60.0 grams of silver is actually recovered from the reaction, determine the present yield of the reaction.
My solution:
Cu+2AgNO3=Cu(NO3)2+2Ag
20g Cu=o.3147 mol Cu
O.3147 mol Cu = 0.629 mol Ag
0.629 mol Ag=67.85 g Ag (theoretical yield)
60g / 67.85g x 100% = 88.4% percent yield
Is this correct. Please explain if it is wrong.
Thank you.
