Total Alkalinity and Dissolution/Precipitation of CaCO3

Hello I have calculate Total Alkalinity on seawater and intersitial sediment water samples and i need to have an idea on CaCO3 precipitation. My question is if i can assume dissolution/precipitation of CaCO3 based on TA values. for example low TA= precipitation and higher TA=dissolution?
