Zinc chromite formation
« on: March 14, 2008, 02:38:13 PM »
I am looking for a method to form zinc chromite (ZnCr2O4) on a metallic zinc surface.  An aqueous solution that the zinc metal could be placed in would be ideal.  A method that does not use any hex chrome compounds would be best.  I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Well,
I am forming ZnCuO via Lpshs, which means that I am mixing Zn(NO3)2 with Cu(NO3)2 and some citric acid, water and ammonia and I am stirring and heating it until all the water and the ammonia is evaporated and it starts to burn. When all the powder is burnt- which means that all the citric acid is burnt- what is formed is ZnCuO. Do you thing this could work for your case?
You can try with some chromium nitrate instead of Cu(NO3)2.
