Instrumental analysis ( A few question)
« on: March 17, 2008, 07:53:39 PM »
1) For Uv/vis instrument, How does the detector quality determine the merit of the Uv/vis instrument?
2) Design a method to determine O2 using FI spectroscopy?
3) Why do quantitative and qualitative analysis often require different monochromator slit widths?
4) Why a photomultiplier detector can't be used in IR spectroscopy and what is the detector used in FTIR?
5) What special cautions should you take in preparing samples for UV, IR, and Atomic Absorption?
6) In a hydrogen-Oxygen flame, the atomic absorption signal for iron was found to decrease in the presence of large concentration of sulfate ion
     a) suggest an explanation for this observation
     b) suggest three possible methods for overcoming the potential interference of sulfate in a quantitative determination of iron.
7) why is ICP-AES better for multi element analysis over FAAS
8) Basis for radiation detection with a silicon diode transducer?

     Thanks a million if anyone can help

Do you have any guesses for number one?  For my own part, the answer to number 3 isn't particularly obvious for me, I tend to keep slits the same for qualitative and quantitative.  You better check your notes, the teacher may have a specific answer in mind.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Dear Hellzprince1;

I think for Question 4.) you already got the answer in your Parallel-Thread:   "FTIR Detector?”.

As I pointed out there, we need at least one guess per question from you (Please not from Others!) to help you.

And please read also:  "Forum Rules” (4.)

Good Luck!
