« on: March 26, 2008, 03:33:59 PM »
I am trying to reclaim Gold from an enchant ( KI). Can some one help with how to reduce( precipitate) the gold from potassium iodide enchant solution.

How do you enchant gold? Do you use a spell, or wand?  :D

Can't be done anymore, E. Gary Gyrax took all the magic when he left.  You might try pestering J. K. Rowling, 'tho. ;D

To the O.P.:
I don't know how the KI-I2 etchant works, because I don't recognize the stable compound gold forms with iodine.  Perhaps it etches a gold surface by attacking underlying metals, or alloyed metals.  In which case, the gold is still there in solid form, all you have to do is filter.  If you ever found enough sludge for this to be worthwhile, a simple roasting with a cheap flux would result in a gold bead.  But I don't expect you'll find enough for this to be worthwhile, even in an industrial setting.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
