PROBLEM IN A PACKED BED COLUMN PRESSURE DROP CALCULATION
« on: April 06, 2008, 07:22:08 PM »
I'M A FINAL YEAR CHEMICAL ENEINEERING STUDENT. IN ORDER TO DO A PROJECT I 'VE FABRICATED A PACKED BED COLUMN AND I STUDIED THE PRESSURE DROP STUDIES, FLOW RATE STUDIES, HOLDUP STUDIES, FLOODING POINT STUDIES, IN ORDER TO COMPARE THE EXPERIMENTAL PRESSURE DROP WITH THE THEORITICAL PRESSURE DROP I'VE USED ROBBINS EQUATION. BUT, IT DOESN'T FITS AT ALL. IS THERE ANY OTHER CORRELATIONS FOR OBTAINING A PRESSURE DROP IN A TWO-PHASE COUNTER CURRENT PACKED BED COLUMN? OR CAN ANY ONE TEL ME HOW TO DEVELOP A NEW CORRELATION?

REGARDS

Hi success4sen,

Example #3 on the following website appears to have what you are looking for...here is the link:

http://www.gch.ulaval.ca/bgrandjean/pbrsimul/pbrsimul.html

I am not sure if you are able to access the formula's in the background of the excel file, but it looks like there are some explanations to help you along.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Eugene
