P-Biochem--Galvanic Cell Hmwk
« on: April 14, 2008, 03:09:32 AM »
Hi all,

I'm trying to finish up my homework and there is a problem about galvanic cells, which i just can get.  The problem I have is writing the reaction that is occurring.  My teacher went over these for about 2 minutes and puts one on the homework set.  The cell is listed below with the questions that follow.  All I really need is part A (and probably a little explanation on e), I think i can get the rest after that.  But, any insight on the others would be appreciated but not needed.
Thanks for all the help.

Ag(s),AgI(s)|KI(10^-2M)||KCl(10^-3M)|Cl2(g,1atm),Pt(s) has the voltage 1.5702 @298 K

a. Write the cell reaction
b. What is dG @ 298K
c. What is dG° @ 298K
d. Calculate the Std reduction Potential for the half-cell on the left
e. calculate the solubility product of AgI; KAgI =(aAg+)(aI-)
