Question about Hnmr
« on: May 01, 2008, 02:40:15 AM »
 A Hnmr of a compound: 0.8 (2H,m),0.9(2H,m),2.0(1H,m),7.0-7.2(5H,m)

The implications I make was

0.8 and 0.9 : -CH2 in cyclopropane
2.0            : -COCH
7.0-7.2      : Aromatic H

Another isomeric compound is : 2.1 (3H,bs),5.82(1H,bd),6.8(1H,d),7.0-7.2(5H,m)

2.1  : -COCH3
5.82 : I guess is vinylic but how come it only contains 1H
6.8  :  I can't guess what it is since it only has 1H
7.2-7.5 : Aromatic H

Another hint for this questions is acidify reaction of 1-chloro-3-phenylpropane.

And I suggest use NaOH or other metallic base as the base.Is it possible?

To distinguish the raw compound and the two isomerics compound,I suggest to use mass spectrometry and the main feature is the carbonyl group,am I right?

Thanks.
