Decomposition question ?? Help please..
« on: May 24, 2008, 12:19:59 PM »
NH4CO2NH2 ...> (yields) 2NH3 + Co2 (g)

If at 40 degress C this decomposition reaction has a total pressure of .363 atm, what is Kp?

total pressure = pressure of all reactants and products added together.
NH4CO2NH2 is a solid and the partial pressure of it is negligable
As you have the reaction equation you can calculate the fraction of CO2 and NH3 of the pressure (and thus calculate their partial pressures)

Kp for this reaction is the product of the partial pressures of the products
