Very interesting- Relating rates of reaction
« on: August 01, 2008, 03:00:10 PM »
This is another doubt from M and B.

A mixture of 1 mole of cyclohexane, 1 mole of benzaldehyde and 1 mole of semicarbazide were reacted. On immediately isolating the product, we got the semicarbazone of cyclohexane almost 100%. But on isolating the product after several hours, we got the semicarbazone of benaldehyde almost 100%.

Explain.

I'm very sorry. I meant 1 mole of cyclohexanone and not cyclohexane. It was a typo.
