2,3,4-tribromopentane stereoisomers
« on: October 04, 2008, 03:42:41 PM »
How many stereoisomers, enantiomers, diastereomers, and mesocompounds possible for this particular compound?

How many chiral centers and stereogenic centers?

Thanks,

Have you tried?

Have you tried?

Yes, 3 stereoisomers, two enantiomers, one meso, two chiral centers.  I know its not correct answer, so I am seeking advice.

Can you draw what you have, it's hard to say without seeing what you have discovered so far.

I think you may have 2 meso isomers, one where the middle bromine is above the plane and one where it is below the plane of the paper.

I'm not 100% sure how to name them though...

Thanks, but is that a considered as chiral center?
