upon analysing my GC results it seems that my deuterated compund is eluting earlier (lower retention time) then the compound with just normal hydrogen. the same results have occured in many scientific articles. could anyone tell me why deuterium has a faster response time in the GC when it is a heavier molecule then Hydrogen??
also it was added at a higher concentration then the Hydrogen compund and yet the peak has resonated at a lower 'frequency' then the hydrogen containing compound. any ideas?
