Atomic emission spectroscopy

Hello, can anybody tell me what determines the suitability of an element for analysis by emission. i know for instance sodium will emit an orange flame after analysis but how do you initially determine which technique is best???

Dear lily_m;

Sorry!, - your question is too general for a real ‘suitable’ answer.
There are ‘simply’ too much independent variables involved, like knowledge of operator, available instruments, needed precision, environment, etc., etc.

So the method should be to define first your needs and the values to most independent variables, and then you can do a “mental” or other screening to find the most suitable method/instrument.

I hope to have anyway been of help to you.
Good Luck!
