Molport is not as open as I'd like. Chemexper and other chemical search engines allow you to easily look up the contact information of supplier's while making money from advertising and the order in which companies are listed. Molport is a little more limiting in that aspect.

1) You say that Molport is limiting. Can you be more specific? You comment that, unlike ChemExper, we do not list supplier contact information. That is not true. If you are do-it-yourself type person, you will find all contact information on our website. And unlike ChemExper, for many suppliers we list prices and shipping charges.

2) There are plenty websites that work with the advertising model. If you have even shopped for more than one or two rare chemicals, you know that contacting many suppliers, getting timely and complete offers form them is real chore. Many of the online databases are full of suppliers that don't stock even 10% of chemicals they list in their catalog and the onese they do stock they can't ship reliably on time. Molport is taking a different approach. We make ordering chemicals easy by doing the work for you. A researcher should not waste his time to do work that a trained specialist can do quicker and better. And there are plenty of people who agree with us and support our approach by ordering chemicals through Molport. And we do not list all suppliers. We add new suppliers, but if their order fulfillment is very poor, we remove their catalogs.
