Acid-Base Neutralization reaction.
« on: February 09, 2009, 02:39:02 PM »
Hi everyone.  I have a question regarding what I think is an acid-base neutralization reaction of two species.  I have a substrate which is functionalized with FeOH, lets call it RFeOH.  I then have a solution containing species functionalized with carboxylic acid,  lets call it R'COOH.  I was wondering if the binding of these two species takes place via an acid (COOH) base (FeOH) reaction.  Would it happen like this?

Code: [Select]
RFeOH + RCOOH -->  RFeO-COO R'  +H2O

Is this correct?
