Help with Rotational Spectroscopy
« on: February 28, 2009, 03:21:01 PM »
need your generous help desperately...

could anyone kindly ans these...?

1. what is the cause of rotatioal energy? why it only exist with molecule with permaent dipole moment?

2. how is the average rotational energy calculated as kBT?

3.are there infinite energy levels in rot. spec? or is there a limit of emergy levels?

4.how is the uncertainty princlple tells us we only know the magnitude of angular momentum vector but not the direction of movement?

5.what is the difference between using quantum or classical theory to study rotation motion of molecules?

6.do all diatomic (or other molecules) have rotational spectral lines of equal spacing, as calculated from J value?

7.also, if the lines are of equal spacing, does it means the bond length of the molecule is constant?

8.how do we know if a transition is rotational?

9.what is the link between classical rotational energy and rotational hamiltonian?

it's so frustrating! i don't understand at all in the lectures!

anyone pls *delete me*

p.s.would be appreciate if there are any recommendations of literatures for beginners
