Weak acid and strong alkali
«
on:
March 04, 2009, 06:32:48 AM »
Why does solution made by combining a weak acid (such as ethanoic acid) with a strong alkali (such as sodium hydroxide) produce a solution (sodium ethanoate) with with an alkali pH?
Thanks

Hey Clive, it is salt hydrolysis.
I don't understand what is happening at an ionic level which will lead to an excess of [OH
