buffer mistake
« on: May 14, 2005, 11:46:20 AM »
what is the pH of a buffer solution at 25 degree that is 0.025mol/L in NH4Cl and 0.01 mol/L i NH3? Kb for NH3 is 1.6x10^-5.
a) what mistake would i most likely have make if i deduced the incorrect answer of pH=4.4?
b) what mistake would i most likely have made if i deduced the incorrect ans of pH=9.6?
the correct ans is 8.81

^^'''do i need to cal pH value then? my eng is just bad....don't even understand the question...

Show us how you approached the problem. Do you know what Henderson-Hasselbalch (buffer) equation is?
