I'm stumped... I never really understood the step Im at:

How many moles of H3O+ must be added to one liter of a solution to adjust the pH from 8.59 to 6.11? Use E notation and 3 significant figures.

Original:                              Final:
pH=8.59                             pH=6.11
H30+= 10^-8.59                  H30+= 10^-6.11
       = ???                                 =???

I really don't know what to do from this point or how to find the value for H30+

No idea who asked this question, but it has no answer, unless you make several assumptions about why the original solution was 8.59.
