reduction question

So i've read as much as possible into this question, and still can't find the answer...

I need to find out what the following products will be when using reduction:

1.) CH3CHO + H2  =  ...
2.) CH3COCH3 + H2 = .

First one you get a primary alcohol as the product, second one you get a secondary alcohol.

Are you in a real organic class, or like, a highschool or nursing organic class?  That reaction was presented in a very.... don't know the word for it.  Unusual way.
