When do we use Henry's law and Raoult's law
« on: April 29, 2009, 12:31:25 AM »
Hi, I'm currently studying about solutions.

There are a few numerical problems that I've came across, but I am still very confused about when exactly to use henry's law and when to apply raoult's law.

can anyone possibly help me clear up my concept about these 2 laws?

Very specifically, Raoult's law talks about the VP of the solvent and Henry's Law talks about the VP of the solute (gas)

We use Raoult's law, when the solution is of primary concern and Henry's law when the gaseous system is more of interest, but it need not always be true.
