Since my dirt-fueled generator idea is too far out there, I'm now concentrating all my lazy time at work to designing my backyard steam-powered generator. What kind of pressures does a steam generator make? Would a steel drum contain the pressure? I don't want it to blow up, that would be bad.
What I need to know about electric generators, is what would be good to use for non-stop daylight hours? I want at least 2 kW out of this thing. I could use a motor just as well, cause its just a backwards generator. Oh, I need AC, but if nothing else I can always snag an inverter or build my own. Cheap is good too. So if anyone knows where I can get something like this, please let me know. I think I put my paddle-wheel question in a different thread...
And how am I going to hook this thing up to my house? I mean, where in the fuse box where I stick the cables?
