Hi everyone.  I'm a wanna be home experimenter but will readily admit to being a complete neophyte.

I downloaded a cool book of home made chemicals and wanna play with the easiest one on how to make potassium nitrate.  (I like firecrackers)   But, the instructions seem a bit incomplete.

I'm hoping if I post the instructions here and my questions some of you might know the answers!

In the past, we have removed actual text that explicitly describes how to make explosives or drugs. As much as we want to assist the study of chemistry as a hobby, it just is too troublesome for this forum to descend into the sort of site that supports that kind of posting. So regretfully I have to remove your text on this topic since the result is a precursor to many explosive items. If I had the expertise I might act a consultant off line, but alas I do not have that skill. In any case, the internet is full of sites that do this sort of thing and not getting posted assistance here is unfortunate but necessary to keep this site running.
