« on: May 14, 2009, 04:47:03 AM »
I need help with this chem assignment, i have to draw 2,3-dichloromethylcyclopentane, but i'm not sure how exactly.  I dont know if the chlorine should be on one of the methyl functional groups or directly attached to the cyclopentane

I think what they want you to draw is  "2,3-dichloro-1-methyl-cyclopentane"

the methyl should be directly attached to the cyclopentane along with the 2 chloros. So you would have your pentane shape and the top is the methl group CH3, and at places 2 and 3 your chloros
