A meteorite that fell into a lake in Canada contains abundant formic acid.

The Wikipedia page mentions that at high temperatures, formic acid decomposes to CO and water.

Funny question, but when a meteorite falls to earth wouldn't the heat of entry decompose that formic acid?

You see only that part of meteorite reaches the earth which has not reacted or you can say inner part of meteorite which has not come in direct contact of high temperature.
