Analytical Pre-concentration/extraction
« on: August 06, 2009, 10:37:34 AM »
I am trying to use modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles in order to collect heavy metals from water solution. My capacity (copper) per gram of nanoparicles is very low. In literature I read it is possible to recover 50 mg of copper per gram....in two years I could have only 5 mg per gram. Does anybody work in this field and can help me to improve the capacity? I am a PhD student.

Hi dear Luca ,
How much is your nano particles "size and distributions" ?
an important thing in naon particles is "surface area", you must use particles in 5 - 20 nm in size .
to prepare this size of nano particles in narrow distribution you must use Microemulsion methods ...
have a fun . ;)
where is my vote?
