Hi.
    I am Subayal working as operation engineer in a fertilizer company.
I have a query about some work permit procedure for safe execution. we have 6 cell induced draft cooling tower. the part of cooling tower is gone through the 4 numbers of sand filters continuously to control SS in Cooling water system. the filters are working automatically i.e back wash and filter.
    recently we were having annual maintenance of one of our filter. in which sand blasting, replacement of filtering media and nozzles replacement is planned. sand blasting is in progress by means of air pressure. abrasive nature sand is being used.
   I want to know that is preparation for hot permit is required for this purpose?? Or there is any chance of fire or spark in this process?? what precautions we should adopt to execute is safely.

I think that hot permit is required for this purpose.
In this process, this is to spark ,flame and passionate surface appear on possibility.
other precautions:
1. When the job, operator must wear the dust prevention gauze mask and protect a glasses ;
2.Before sand blasting,check the ventilation and dust extraction equipment and start it ;
3.Closen the door and windows of the sand blasting room;
4.Before switch on the sand control, switch on the compress air  .And before switch off the compress air ,switch off the sand control.
