Organic chemistry question on C6H5NH2

C6H5COONH3C6H5 is a salt of C6H5COOH and C6H5NH2.
Explain briefly with a description of the method,how you would obtain C6H5NH2 from the above salt.


I really have no idea how to do this.
Can someone maybe give me a hint ?

OK,so when I add water,I get the ions C6H5COO- and  C6H5NH3+ in solution,then I add aqueous NaOH and I get C6H5NH2 and a salt of C6H5COONa.
Then I filter the solution and we get C6H5NH2 in the residue ?

Is this correct ?

You are on the right track. However, you may have troubles filtering aniline. Check its state of aggregation.

I think her plan was to just crystallize out the benzoic acid. And then rotovap the water solution to get at the aniline?

After formation of Sodium Benzoate and aniline (right track), how would you separate the aniline from the solution of sodium benzoate? Think about polarity.
