Named Reactions (what is the name of this reaction?)
« on: September 13, 2009, 02:30:49 PM »
What is the name of this transformation? It can also be a named reaction related to a more general version of this transformation. The end product is levulinic acid, but so far I haven't found a name for its synthesis.

I realized it was a hydrolysis too, so maybe this is all they are looking for.
Versus a "named" reaction from this list: http://www.organic-chemistry.org/namedreactions/#m
Thanks for the help.
