Combustion Stoiciometry
« on: September 22, 2009, 12:16:01 AM »
A compound contains only carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.  Comubstion of 10.68 mg of the compound yields 16.01 mg CO2 and 4.37 mg H2O.  The molar mass of the compound is 176.1 g/mol.  What are the empirical and molecular formulas of the compound?

-The wording alone completely confused me and I'm not entirely sure where to start...

Search forums for empirical formula - it was discussed on many occasions.
ChemBuddy chemical calculators - stoichiometry, pH, concentration, buffer preparation, titrations.info
