COs stripping process by Stamicarbon
« on: October 23, 2009, 02:06:16 PM »
Hi,

I am studying the CO2 stripping process by Stamicarbon for my design project but cannot seem to find crucial information such as yield/ recovery, operating parameters etc for the process in each unit. Can anyone guide me to the right direction please?

Hello Luvena,

After looking up some information, my guess is that Stamicarbon is using an old chemical reaction (I used back in the 1980's) to strip CO2.

Here are the common reactions:

    2 NH3 + CO2 ↔ H2N-COONH4

The second is an endothermic decomposition of ammonium carbamate into urea and water:

    H2N-COONH4 ↔ (NH2)2CO + H2O

This should help you calculate yields.

Best wishes,

Eugene
