quick Stoichiometry question please...
« on: November 01, 2009, 02:38:33 PM »
Hi I have a quick question on this:calculate mol of Fe3O4 formed when:

24g of Fe reacts with 10g of O2 to produce Fe3O4
so Fe3O4= 3Fe +2O2 does this mean that I mutilply the mass of (fe)24g by 3 beacause the coefficent is 3(Mol)and multiply O2 mass(10g) by 2???

or do i keep the original mass so n=34g/232gmol=0.146 mol Fe3O4
0r would it be n=92g/232gmol=0.396 mol Fe3O4

Thanks

Sorry that doesnt help me.
I know about mole ratio ,I dont understand if i need to multiply the mass by the coefficents in the question I got
I would be thankful if you could just answer me yes or no?

you've posted the same question twice and have been given advice to follow.  This is a limiting reagent question so start working through it like that.
