Name of a Biphenyl alchohol?
« on: November 15, 2009, 06:10:25 PM »
Hi there,
I'm attempting to get a reference NMR for my most recent product but I can't seem to find the compound I'm looking for on any of the NMR databases I'm using, The compound is a biphenyl with an ethanol attached at the 4-position, the OH group is on the 1-position of the ethyl group (I'd draw it out but I'm using the library's computer and I don't have access to chem draw.  I've tried a multitude of names but nothing seems to be coming up, anyone have an idea of the nomenclature for this molecule?

Edit: never mind, compound is 1-(4-biphenylyl)ethanol, I was putting it in the wrong order.
