Order of Elution Question (CE)
« on: November 16, 2009, 02:41:21 PM »
I'm having a little trouble with a question regarding Capillary Electrophoresis at the moment.

I can't determine the order of elution of a mixture of Phenylaniline, Tryptophan and Tyrosine. Could someone please point me in the right direction? It would be greatly appreciated.

1.Hey , it's ez as 1-2-3...
1. just grab a single component standard solution for each of your three analytes; then inject each one singly so that you can discern their respective Tr (retention times);
2. then prepare an equi-molar mixture of the individual standards, then inject them.  The Tr for the compounds in the mixture will match (w/n 0.2 mins) for their Tr as single analyte injects.
3. Lastly, inject your real test sample---then match the Tr of the peaks to the Tr of the STDs. Voila!
