R/S nomenclature for stereoisomers - Benzene ring as 1 group?
«

Hi Everyone,
Could someone tell me, when prioritizing the groups around the chiral carbon, do I consider a benzene ring, or any other aromatic as one group? or should I consider just the first carbon attached to it?
Thanks for reading

Initially just the first carbon attached to it. You may have to consider the next one attached to that afterwards, then the next one, and so on in cases where the first carbon has the same priority as another substituent.
