LogP of Canola Oil?
« on: December 08, 2009, 03:52:34 PM »
How could I calculate the XLogP of Canola oil?

Google yields no results. And I know it can be used as a Non-polar solvent.

Okay so I found out the logP of most of the ingredients in it. The unknown or variable ingrediants I am going to leave out.

Compound Name: LogP3 - % in Canola Oil
Oleic acid:  6.5 - %63
Linolic Acid:  6.8 - %23
Alpha-linolenic acid:  5.9 - 11%
Palmitic acid :  6.4 - %6
Stearic Acid :  7.4 - %4

So how do I go about figuring out the total overall LogP? Do I just do what intuitively sounds right?

Put them into ratio's and add them all up?

Cuz when I do it says 6.998 which sounds about right to me?
