Kapustinkii equation
« on: July 11, 2005, 02:00:08 PM »
Hi, I am doing kapustinkii equation at the moment for a lattice structure.

The equation we have been given ie  U= 1.079x10tothepowerof5xVxZ+ + Z-
                                                                     r+ + r-

I have used the equation for LiCl where the atomic radii are 74+ and 108-(pm) what do I have to do to convert it into KJ? or can I leave the answer as it is? if anyone has a worked example of the use of this equation I would be most pleased.

The number 1.079 × 105 has a certain unit associated with it.  If you can find that, you can figure out what units the final answer is in (recall unit analysis if that doesn't make sense)
