Making your own KHP
« on: February 16, 2010, 08:25:01 PM »
Hi people,

First post, and wondering if anyone hare knows how to make one's own potasium acid phthalate (KHP) used for pH standardization as well as acidimetric work. Initially I figured simply add KOH 50/50 v/v to some phthalic acid. Thing is I tried this a few yrs ago, and no luck. What did I miss? Shouldnt this be pretty simple acid/base neutralization synthesis?

Thanks!

You need to make sure you have a 1:1 mole ratio
