FTIR: what is it. nitrocellulose and something?
« on: March 08, 2010, 04:03:24 AM »
hello
i want to find the ingredients of a nitrocellulose based laquer formula. we need to understand the laquer for restauration, preservation.
the laquer is used on laquer discs used for phonograph records. usually coated on an aluminum blank.
i took a few samples and let it go into a perkin-elmer FTIR. and those curves i receive.
as a start i compared with nitrocellulose and castor oil. because i know that it might have these two ingredients.
is there a way i can get it analyzed automatically? anyone knows what else it is?
is FTIR the right way to find the ingredients?

thanks for any idea, hint, help.
