atoms, molecules and ions
« on: April 30, 2010, 09:55:10 PM »
HI, my question is this; if you are given a question that says; determine the number of atoms present in 3 moles of Al (i know how to solve it), what i want to know is, in place of atoms, if they put molecules or ions instead, would you also use the same process i.e. multiply by 6 * 10^23??
Any assistance would be kindly appreciated!!!!

Yes. 1 mole refers to 6.022*10^23. It doesn't matter whether it is atoms/molecules/ions/marbles/apples/wheat grains/bananas.
