Hey guys, I just did a small lab where we reacted aluminum with copper 2 chloride. This is a double displacement that left copper precipitate in the bottom of the beaker and turn the solution dark redish.
So what I need help with is the observations. What I saw was that red bits of stuff started to creep onto the aluminum pieces and then the aluminum pieces started to break off and kinda dissolve away, leaving copper precipitate. How do you describe that in a chemistry way? I was gonna say that "copper ions form on the aluminum pieces".
Would that be correct? If not, can anyone give some ideas?
