Topic: What types of bonds/functional groups are in ascorbic acid?  (Read 9323 times)

I know the molecule is covalent and the C/O bonds are covalent but are the bonds with H hydrogen bonds??
And as far as functional groups all I know is that it contains alcohol and is a lactone but I'm confused if there are any other functional groups I'm not seeing..we didn't learn much about these in class yet :/

Well, i think you missed out enol (though they are just hydroxyl groups, they is different from alcohols you know)

I believe that would be an enediol.

Maybe this is redundant since you mentioned lactone, but lactones are cyclic esters.
