Question about observed and specific rotation
« on: July 13, 2010, 07:19:54 AM »
If the observed specific rotation of (R)-tomordene -42.36% and the specific rotation of (R)-tomurdene is -58.10, what is the percent of the compound present?

I ended up finding optical purity instead of the percent of compound present so I'm really confused as to how I am supposed to find this.

Never mind, I figured it out :) I'm still confused as to why it works, but at least I know how to get the answer.
