hydrogen cyanide
« on: July 31, 2010, 09:09:53 AM »
Does this sound like hydrogen cyanide? When I entered my unit recently, I experienced a strong atmospheric pressure. I then felt like I had been kicked in the chest, my head started tingling and I had body tremors. When I got outside I found I had small white spots on my skin that looked like powder. When I rubbed this off, there were red spots on my skin like it had been burned. A urine test did revealed my exposure level to cyanide was 10 times higher than normal. If it was hydrogen cyanide, was the hydrogen placed in water or in acid?

Hydrogen Cyanide, I doubt it. It may be a reaction to formaldehyde which is sometimes used in insulation.
If it was HCN you would smell almonds.

There is a significant portion of the population that cannot smell HCN for some reason.  Just FYI, but I have no idea about the symptoms of cyandie poisoning.
