Group 2 elements

Which Group 2 element has chemical properties least like the other members of the group?
(a) Be (b) Ca (c) Sr (d) Ba

The answer is (a) Be. I can't think of any explanation. If it were elements from the group 5 or 6 it would have been easier since I just need to select the semi metals.

From what I know this can be easily seen comparing the values of the nuclear effective charge of the different elements: the first and second elements of each group have slightly different properties from the other ones of the same group.

My guess is that berylium oxide is amphoteric. Which is the distinct difference between oxide of group II metal

any idea why LiNO3 decomposes like a group II nitrate forming oxide, nitrogen dioxide and oxygen instead of nitrite and oxygen only?
