Is it Possible to Decompose a Powder then Put It Back as It Was?
« on: September 24, 2010, 02:01:35 AM »
Hey! I'm new to this forum so is to chemistry. I find Chem is very interesting subject, i just started
reading about it recently. I have a body powder product that is a mixture of a crushed tree branch with some
other body lotions. Personally, i find the powder very useful to skin, i just don't know its chemical substances,
what chemical does it contain!

The powder is made up and brought up from a rural area, so i don't have any info about it chemicals.

Is it possible to analyze the powder and know exactly what chemicals does it consist of?

Once i know the chemical compositions, is it possible to buy the substances from a chemistry store and
make the powder from scratch? By the way, the powder is mostly made from an organic (tree branch) substance,
so i'm not yet sure making the powder manually is possible or not because an orange is organic, what i know that there is no way i can make up an orange by composing chemicals together, so is the powder that consists of tree branch?

I hope my question is clear enough. If you would like me to clarify more, don't hesitate to inform me...

Thanks

It is possible.

Your easiest and most economical way: find as much information as you can about origin of the plant. What kind of plant, country, climate, flower, bark, leafs?

Then take powder to herbal medicine specialists (traditional medicine), somebody experienced might recognize it. Explain them that you are looking for a supplier.

You last (free) option is to take it to university plant students. They might be able to recognize the plant based on it cell structure under microscope
