I have read that liquid bromine is typically soluble in non-polar organic solvents but are there any (polar?) solvents that it is not miscible with? Ideally, the liquid bromine would be completely insoluble in this solvent. Of course, the solvent would also have to be unreactive toward Br2.
I'm hoping to experiment with it in a non-aqueous electrolytic cell and I want the Br2 to separate into layers (due to density differences) with this solvent.
Do you know of any references that would have this kind of information?
Thanks!
